Product overview
The current mobile Internet market has shown that subscribers demand a broad range of applications which are easy to discover, easy to install and easy to use. Our Mobile Operator division addresses this demand by helping mobile operators and their partners overcome the discoverability, usability and fulfillment challenges typically associated with the delivery of mobile Internet applications and services on mass market devices.
We believe that discovering, personalizing and using mobile Internet services on any device should be as easy as making a phone call. Our updated Mobile Internet Platform is designed to meet the demands of this new market, focusing on:
- Application Store – providing a compelling retail experience for the subscriber to discover, purchase and install applications
- Retail Management – providing the tools to enable the operator to manage the retail experience, ingestion of applications, segmentation of the customer base and promotion management
- Broadest choice of devices including support of emerging de facto standards
- Effective Service Creation Environment to enable developers to build cross platform applications

This new ecosystem is complex with multiple device operating systems, differing runtime choices for developers, from native to widget solutions, multiple delivery and distribution options, and a range of business models. A multi-device, multi-vendor solution must operate well in such a varied environment and be able to adapt to future evolutions in the market. We recognize these challenges and have developed all our products to operate well in such complex and evolving environments.
Mobile Internet Platform
SurfKit Mobile Internet Platform supports multiple content providers, multiple billing infrastructures, and integrates with segmentation, recommendation, CRM and ad-serving engines. The solution may be implemented within the operators’ infrastructure or hosted.
SurfKit Mobile Internet Platform v5 takes the existing proven and robust end-to-end client-server platform, which has consistently delivered material commercial results in terms of usage and ARPU increase, adding support for the emerging device runtimes and browsers available as standard on most smart phones.
SurfKit Mobile Internet Platform v5 has been extended to include support for Bondi, JIL, Flash and Web 2.0 browsers. This enhanced support enables competitive storefronts to be rolled out to devices without requiring further client software to be pre-installed on these devices. The open support for multiple client technologies combined with the existing integration options of the infrastructure results in a future-proof solution. This allows high quality mobile storefronts to be rolled out onto the widest choice of devices.
SurfKit Mobile Internet Platform v5 provides out-of-the box support for comprehensive retail management. This includes price bundling, customer segmentation, service creation and content ingestion. This upgrade builds on the established features that currently power major operator services such as Orange App Shop and TelstraOne Experience.
